Extended lighting proposals - Bristol Bath Railway Path

Consultation Overview

Proposals to install street lighting on the Bristol Bath Railway Path from Alcove road, Fishponds (where the lighting currently ends) to the Staple Hill Tunnel.
Seek views on the proposals to light the Railway Path to inform the the design to be taken forward to Planning permission.

Why We Are Consulting

Over the years Bristol City Council has received many requests to extend the lighting, from users concerned about their safety. As the days shorten in the winter months the number of people using the path drops due to concerns about using it in darkness. The Cycling City project has given us the opportunity to address this issue.

There were 32 responses to the consultation, which were overwhelmingly in support of the proposal, with only a few negative comments surrounding the adverse impact on wildlife.
