Frome Greenway Transformation - An upgraded cycle and pedestrian routeway

Consultation Overview

The Frome Greenway Transformation is an ambitious project which sets out a vision for an important transport corridor, and includes a range of enhancements. It will be implemented as part of the Cycling City Project, and is funded from s106 contributions from the Cabot Circus development, under an air quality provision. The central objective is to greatly increase the usage of the route by cyclists and pedestrians, whilst achieving a shift away from vehicle use, and associated air-quality improvement. The outcome will be a well marked, continuous route that has the following attributes: environmental enhancement; distinct identity; high quality designed features; good linkages along (and into) the corridor; improved ecology, amenities, and safety. The project presents a unique opportunity to contribute towards making Bristol a better, greener, more livable place.

Why We Are Consulting

We wish to get feedback on the outline proposals for the physical enhancements. Initial sketch designs have been produced for some locations along the routeway – with the aim of developing a range of features to way-mark and provide a better identity to the pathway. We are seeking comments on the overall approach as well as for specific locations.

What Happens Next

Following the consultation period, the responses will form part of the process of designing the new waymark structures, gateways, signage and new planting along this routeway.

Progress reports will be posted up on the Council's air-quality web pages, as well as the Cycling City website.
