This survey is being carried out to measure the satisfaction rate of Bristol residents with local highways and transport services provided by Bristol City Council.
The consultation is part of a national survey with over 60 other local authorities taking part at the same time. Results will be benchmarked across the country enabling us to share information and ultimately improve services to meet customer needs.
Results of the survey will enable us to find out what people think about local transport services and where improvement activity should be focussed. It also allows us to compare what residents in Bristol think with other parts of the country, and learn from authorities who have been identified as best practice in relevant areas.
Data will not be available to the council until mid-September at which time it will be subject to internal analysis. Results will then be presented to relevant managers so that they can take ownership and develop plans to address any arising issues.
We had a response rate of 1092 responses, which is 18.2%.
1) 77.4% of respondents find it easy to travel to key services such as health facilities, banks etc
2) Bristol City Council ranked as the 6th best performer (out of 76 participating authorities) in terms of overall public satisfaction with the condition of highways
3) Compared to last year’s survey, satisfaction improved significantly in a number of areas including 'buses arriving on time', 'cycle route information' and 'cycle training'.
4) Traffic levels and congestion were highlighted as the area that Bristol residents were least satisfied with
What will happen next:
Results of the survey will be disseminated to all relevant managers and staff, to address as appropriate. Best practice will be shared between the National Highways and Transport Network enabling managers to learn from others in order to improve their service area.
