Pilot traffic signal switch-off

Consultation Overview

A pilot begins this weekend at 2 sites in the centre of Bristol to switch-off traffic lights to test the concept of shared space and if junctions can still operate effecitvely and safely.

Why We Are Consulting

Following an increase in public and media interest in shared space and recent experiences at Portishead, where traffic signals were switched off and the junction has operated more effectively, Bristol City Council is responding with a pilot scheme.
