Proposed Build Out for an Uncontrolled Pedestrian Crossing

Consultation Overview

Proposed footway build out on the junction of Goldney Avenue/Constitution Hill to provide a safer crossing point for pedestrians.  The proposal will involve the loss of one car parking space.

Why We Are Consulting

Proposal will impact local residents due to the removal of a parking space

What Happens Next

Local residents will recieve a consultation leaflet which they can fill in and return by freepost.

Results

In total we received 48 responses of which 43 were in favour, 2 against and 3 others.

  • The 3 others welcomed a crossing but would prefer for it to be located further west to cater for pedestrians coming up Goldney Avenue.
  • Many stated that this was not in fact Goldney Avenue but Lower Clifton Hill. This is a mistake on the OS mapping, something which is outside of our control.

Other suggestions were:

  • For it to become a Zebra crossing
  • The build out to be bigger
  • Improve the pedestrian footways around the area
  • Further improvements around Christchurch school
  • Make the junction of Constitution Hill and Clifton Road more acute

Residents who commented on the proposal will receive this information by post.
