Vassall Road to Oldbury Court Road, Fishponds Gating Order on Public Right of Way

Consultation Overview

It is proposed to erect gates a either end of the Public Right of Way connecting Vassall Road and Oldbury Court Road. Entrances are between No's 59 and 61 Vassall Road and No's 54 and 56 Oldbury Court Road. Public Right of Way N0 BCC/163
The reason it is proposed to gate this highway is crime and anti-social behaviour affecting nearby houses. It is believed that this occurs because the right of way gives access to the rear of properties. It is thought that the way to prevent this is by installing gates.

Why We Are Consulting

Under Section 129A of the Highways Act the council must consider representations as to whether or not the
Gating Order should be made. If views are strongly polarised the council may consider undertaking a public inquiry to decide whether to proceed with gating the path.

What Happens Next

The results of the consultation will be collated and based on representations received a decision will be made as to whether to proceed with the Gating Order or to hold a public inquiry
