Allerdale Parking Survey

Overview

People in Allerdale are being asked for their opinions on car parking in the borough.

The Overview and Scrutiny Committee is conducting a review of car parking as a result of a petition presented to the Council regarding the issue.

Why We Are Consulting

This survey is only part of the review which aims to gather information on a number of issues including the distribution of long and short stay parking bays, views on the annual parking permit scheme, parking charges and the availability of appropriate parking facilities in Allerdale.

What Happens Next

The results of this survey will be presented to Scrutiny Panel 2 and will be used where appropriate to inform the decision making process.

Feedback will be provided in due course.

Results

A total of 247 responses were received from the general public.

The purpose of the survey was to find out what local peoples opinions were about parking facilities in the Borough and determine some of the factors that influence how they use Allerdale's car parks.

The results of the survey were analysed by Allerdale's Corporate Improvement Team, and presented to the Scrutiny Panel for discussion on 25 February 2011. Members considered the information contained in the analysis, alongside evidence received from other sources such as business representatives and Council officers, before making final recommendations to be presented to the Executive for consideration.

A copy of the report that was presented to the Executive and the minutes of the meeting, containing all the recommendations that were made can be accessed via the link below.
