Local Development Framework: Shopfront & Advertisement Design
Overview
As part of its Local Development Framework, Barrow Borough Council is currently preparing a new Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) on ‘Shopfront and Advertisement Design’.
This document will supplement the policies of the saved Barrow in Furness Local Plan (Local Plan Review 1996-2006) and Barrow Port Area Action Plan Development Plan Document and will also supplement one saved policy of the Structure Plan.
The SPD will provide advice to owners and occupiers of commercial buildings, particularly shops and offices, who are considering external alterations to their properties, and those wishing to comment on applications. The SPD will form part of the Council’s efforts to protect and enhance the Borough’s town centres.
