Place Survey - tracker survey 2009

Overview

Countywide public opinion self-completion postal survey repeating questions asked in the 2008 Place Survey (the Place Survey is conducted nationally every 2 years, the tracker survey is conducted in Cumbria in the interim years). The questionnaire was sent to a random sample of 3000 Cumbrian residents.

Why We Are Consulting

The survey is part of the council's ongoing efforts to understand public opinion in the county. The questionnaire covers opinion on a wide range of council services and functions. In particular it asks a set of questions related to a number of National Indicators - the measures by which national government measures council performance.

The results from this tracker survey feed into the council's ongoing performance monitoring, helping the council understand whether it's actions are meeting the public's needs.

As such this survey is not related to any specific decision the council intends to make but is part of ongoing intelligence gathering which feeds into the council's decision making generally.

What Happens Next

The survey results will be considered by the council's corporate management team and fed through the council's performance management process.
