Traffic Regulation Order Market Place, Ulverston
Overview
Tesco Stores Limited has requested that provision for a Loading Only bay is made on Market Place in Ulverston for their new store. This requires a change to the traffic regulation order to make a dual use bay allowing provision for Loading Only and Hackney Carriages / Taxis Only. The proposal for the new restrictions will include the clause ‘except for market days’ as currently in place. The proposals for the dual use bay are:
· Loading Only 6am-10am and
· Hackney Carriages / Taxis Only 10am-midnight and midnight to 6am.
Note: A previous order made operative on 1 June 2009 imposed a 24 hour taxi only bay and this order was made on paper. However it was never implemented on the ground, as Tesco’s request to look at a loading bay was received at around the same time. So this proposal order will amend that ‘on paper’ restriction.
What happens next
During the consultation period, a draft Traffic Regulation Order is advertised. The consultation period starts on Friday 9 April 2010 and the deadline for reciept of comments and objections is 21 days from this, therefore Friday 30 April 2010.
It is intended that the consideration of all replies recieved including objections and the decision whether to make the order will be made by the County Council Local Committee on 15 June 2010. The final outcome which may differ from the draft proposals will be published after that date.
