Below are some of the issues we have recently consulted on and their outcomes.

Public consultation on changes to the Blue Badge Scheme

We asked:
We received 1216 responses to the consultation regarding proposed changes to the blue badge scheme. This included postal, email and online responses. We asked the following questions: Are you a blue badge holder? To what extent do you agree or disagree that the increase in fee is reasonable? To what extent do you agree or disagree that you will be able to afford the increase in fee?
You said:
Through the responses we recieved, the results were as follows: Most people who responded (96%) were blue badge holders. More than three quarters of people - 78% - who responded said they agreed or strongly agreed that the increase in fee from £2 for three years to £10 for three years was reasonable. Four out of every five respondents (80%) agreed or strongly agreed that they would be able to afford the increase in fee.
We did:
County council Cabinet members received a report at their January 2012 meeting which gave details of responses to the consultation, as well as a detailed breakdown of the costs of delivering the scheme. As a result of this information Cabinet members resolved that: 1.in line with national legislative changes and following local consultation, the recommendation is to increase the Blue Badge fee to the maximum of £10. This would be paid every 3 years by badge holders; 2.the badge fee to be introduced with effect from 1 March 2012.

Kirkbarrow 20mph Zone with Traffic Calming

We asked:
Cumbria Highways consulted on proposals for a 20mph speed limit with accompanying traffic calming road humps on the Kirkbarrow Estate.
You said:
Support was receievd from Kendal Civic Society for the 20mph without traffic calming. Cumbria Police, Ghyllside Primary School supported the psoporsals as did Kirkbarrow Residents Association, which included a petition from Well Ings residents in support, but with an additional road hump. 8 residents responded, one in support and 7 in objection.
We did:
All comments and objections were reported to South Lakeland Local Committee at its meeting on 18 November 2011. It was recommended that the Kirkbarrow 20mph zone with traffic calming be approved for implementation with one additional road hump on Well Ings. The decision was that the proposals were approved.

Appleby Fair TRO 2011

We asked:
We consulted on a new traffic regulation order in connection with Appleby Horse Fair
You said:
All consultation responses were reported to Local Committee for South Lakeland
We did:
South Lakeland Local Committee considered all representations and approved the traffic regulation order

Lanercost CE School Legal Notices

We asked:
Should there be a change of age range at Lanercost CE School in order to accommodate a nursery provision?
You said:
It will strengthen the school and be good for the community.
We did:
Cabinet approved implementation of the proposal at their 31/3/11 meeting.

Arnside National CE School Legal Notices

We asked:
Should there be a change of age range at Arnside National School in order to accommodate a nursery provision?
You said:
There is currently a lack of pre-school provision in Arnside.
We did:
Cabinet approved implementation of the proposal at their 31/3/11 meeting

Have your say on council priorities and budget options

You said:
Litte support for on-street parking charges, cuts to Countryside Access too harsh, Recycling Credits payments are important to local charities.
We did:
Dropped proposals for on-street parking charges, reduced cuts to Countryside Access, kept Recycling Credits payments.

Grasmere Consolidation Order 2010

We asked:
Consulted on a concolidation of the traffic regulation orders

We did:
Local Committee considered all represenatations and approved the traffic consolidation order

Holker Street Care Tender

We asked:

Contract awarded to North West Community Services for three years from 26/7/10

Traffic Regulation Order Market Place, Ulverston

We asked:
For feedback on proposals for a dual use loading only bay and taxi bay in market Place, Ulverston.
You said:
Comments and objections recieved were reported to South Lakeland Local Committee on 30 July 2010 and subsequently approved.
We did:
Signs and markings are now in place and the bay is operative.

Managing Radioactive Waste Safely: Stage 1
