Penrith Conservation Area Character Appraisal Consultation

Overview

The historic market town of Penrith was first designated as a conservation area in 1975. We have produced a character appraisal that identifies what is important about Penrith's townscape and architecture. This should be of interest both to residents and developers and it will provide useful background when considering planning applications in Penrith conservation area. It also suggests that the conservation area boundary should be extended in places and reduced in others.

Why We Are Consulting

It is important that the views of the public, particularly local residents, are taken into account in producing a character appraisal for the conservation area. In particular, residents views are sought in respect of the proposed boundary changes.
