The Modernisation of Adult Drug Treatment Services

Overview

The Cumbria Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) are planning to develop and modernise the county’s adult drug treatment system.

The evidence gathered in the local needs assessment indicates that drug related issues have a significant impact on the residents and communities of Cumbria.  These drug related issues can affect individuals and communities in many ways and levels; for example hospital admissions, unemployment, deprivation, children in care, crime and long term health related problems.

By modernising the system we aim to address the treatment need in Cumbria and utilise resources effectively and efficiently where they are most required.

Why we are consulting

The DAAT aims to ensure that a range of stakeholders have the opportunity to contribute to the future modernisation of the adult drug treatment and recovery system in Cumbria.  As a result of this, we are conducting an extensive engagement and consultation process amongst a number of stakeholders; including members of the community, strategic partners and those with responsibility for delivering services.

Your views and opinions are extremely important.  This is your opportunity to tell us your thoughts, and to ultimately make a valuable contribution towards the modernisation of the service provision in Cumbria.

What happens next

The views opinions and resulting ideas that we gather from all our consultation exercises will be collated into a report for the DAAT Executive Board and used to inform our future decision making.

It is anticipated that, alongside the new national Drug Strategy 2010, we can incorporate your ideas into the development and delivery of adult drug services throughout Cumbria.

This truly is an exciting and innovative time and we’d like you to help us shape the future.
