Broughton Traffic Calming Consultation
Overview
The Broughton-in-Furness Traffic Calming Group (BTCG) was set up in April 2010 in response to feedback generated by a previous consultation by Cumbria County Council in October 2009.
The BTCG is made up of residents, business representatives and local elected members from Cumbria County and South Lakeland District Councils.
The group has worked with various people including Cumbria County Council's highways engineers to come up with suggestions for reducing the speed of traffic in the town. This includes opinions gathered from residents at the public meeting last year. In particular, the suggestion that we consider measures that are 'sympathetic' to the town and that do not involve the introduction of intrusive signs or road markings.
Why We Are Consulting
The BTCG are now keen to consult with the wider community on their proposals to ensure that everyone is able to have their say and that traffic calming measures are right for the local area.
The feedback received from people who take part in the consultation will be used to identify how the plans can be improved for the benefit of the community.
