Dental Access CRT Electronic Survey
Overview

Why We Are Consulting
To determine the uptake and perceptions of dentistry in the NHS Rotherham area.
What Happens Next
The survey took place over 3 days, dividing Rotherham into North, Central and South. In order to achieve consistency it was carried out at the same time of day 11am to 1pm.
The results of the survey were taken to the Dental Operational Group, in graph form, and the findings were as follows:
79.49% of those surveyed had an NHS Dentist
84.88% of those surveyed had routine check-ups
62.27% of those surveyed reported that they had seen a dentist within the last 6 months
99.02% of those surveyed visited the same dentist
64.10% of those surveyed were unaware that the Health Advice Centre could assist people to find a dentist.

Results
The results compared favourably with those from GP Patient Survey: Dental Statistics provided by the Dept of Health. The Dental Operational Group found these to be reassuring for NHS Rotherham.
The Emergency Dental Poster was re-disseminated to GP and Dental Practices, Pharmacies and Accident and Emergency.
The Emergency Dental Poster was submitted to the Health Information Editorial Group for approval for future use.
It was necessary to proote the services provided by the Health Advice Centre.
There is now a section on the NHS Rotherham Internet for 'Finding a Dentist'.
The survey may be repeated in about a year's time.
