Residential and Nursing care fees consultation 2013/14
The public sector continues to face its toughest ever financial challenge. Within ASSH we have been obliged to achieve a reduction in overall expenditure of over £10M per annum between 2012 and 2014. We have continued to look at ways to save money to ensure that those with the highest levels of need are protected and can continue to receive support.
There has been a reduction in the number of residential placements that we commission and what we pay for them but we are still required to make further budget reductions. We want to continue to do this in the best possible way, taking into consideration the impact of our purchasing power within the local market and the Council’s interest in ensuring a good quality supply of care home provision in Sutton to meet its safeguarding requirements.
Why We Are Consulting
In the past some provider organisations have told us that they felt imposed upon rather than engaged with in the way we have managed fee uplifts/reductions. The purpose of this consultation is therefore to share our ideas about how we think we might achieve the necessary saving and to listen to your feedback and suggestions and to comply with our legal and statutory obligations.
