The South London Waste Plan
Overview
Landfill space is running out and buried waste releases climate-changing gases. New ways of dealing with waste are needed. Croydon, Kingston, Merton and Sutton are working together to meet this challenge by developing the South London Waste Plan. Following last autumn’s consultation on issues and options, Croydon, Kingston, Merton and Sutton councils have identified potential sites for future waste management facilities and drafted policies to guide their development.
Why we are consulting
Your feedback is now needed on these potential sites and policies to help inform the Plan’s development. We have prepared a leaflet that summarises some of the key issues and asks for your views on potential sites and draft policies. If you would like to get involved further, we have produced a more detailed consultation document in which you can feed back to us your views on additional issues. You need to send us your responses by no later than midnight on Friday 16 October 2009. We cannot guarantee that late responses will be considered in the development of the Plan. What happens next
Your views will help develop the final version of the South London Waste Plan which we anticipate will be published for your comments in February 2010. This is your chance to make your voice heard and to help shape policy that will affect where you live.

All the comments recieved during the consutlation were considered and helped to develop the version of the South London Waste Plan that was submitted for examination in February 2011.
