Below are some of the issues we have recently consulted on and their outcomes.

Roundshaw Downs conservation grazing

We asked:
Your views as to whether a grazing project would be supported and what issues would need considering to minimise the impact on current uses of Roundshaw Downs.
You said:
Raised raised concerns about impact on suite users and pointed out issues that would need addressing.
We did:
We used the comments to modify the proposals which made them acceptable to the majority of site users.

Proposals for managing changes to fee payments in 2011/12

We asked:
Your opinions on our proposals for managing future fee changes.
You said:
That you recognised the effects of the current economic climate on Council Budgets but wanted us to know the financial pressures on providers.
We did:
We will report back to the provider forums in Sept/Oct 2011. We will proceed with the proposed provider working group to help refine our proposals.

Draft Sutton Transport Plan 2011/12-2013/14

We asked:
For you to rank transport objectives and investment priorities, to tell us about transport problems and to make suggestions for transport schemes.
You said:
That safety, road maintenance, congestions and speeding are important to you.
We did:
Take your comments into account in developing Sutton's Transport Plan that was submitted to the Mayor of London

A New Vision for Older People's Day Services

We asked:
What you thought of our proposals for older people's day services - particularly Belsize Court and Gaynesford Lodge
You said:
You liked the vision and understood that the Council needed to make savings, but would prefer services to stay as they are
We did:
We looked at new options suggested, re-checked vacancies and found a way for Gaynesford Lodge to potentially be run as a social enterprise

A Life of My Own - Carers Commissioning Strategy

We asked:
How we can improve the lives of carers
You said:
It can be difficult to get access to information and services
We did:
We will use the comments and ideas to shape future commissioning

Primary School Expansion Programme

We asked:
For your views on our proposals to increase the number of primary school places in the borough.
You said:
That you suppoprted the proposals, but had some concerns about traffic.
We did:
Publish statutory consultation notices and started work with the School Travel Advisor and Smarter Travel Sutton team to address traffic issues.

Children & Young People's Plan 2010/11 - High Level Actions

We asked:
For you ideas about what our goals should be for the next year in planning services for Children and Young People
You said:
You want more activities for young people, a focus on care and support in preparing for work.
We did:
Take your views on board in developing the final version of the plan.

South London Waste Plan - Additional Sites

We asked:
A number of questions about potential sites for waste management.
You said:
That you wanted the South London Waste Partnership to consider eight additional sites.
We did:
Assess the suitablity of these additional sites using a robust set of criteria. All 8 sites scored poorly compared to the 28 sites considered previously.

Sutton's Children and Young Peoples Plan

We asked:
For your views on the key challenges facing children and young people in Sutton today.
You said:
That there are a lot of different challenges that affect young people in Sutton.
We did:
We have written an action plan using your comments and this is being consulted on until 16th April 2010.

Getting more involved in local services

We asked:
How residents might best get involved in their local area, and local democracy in particular.
You said:
There needs to be more opportunities for residents to get involved in local democracy, and events and taster sessions need to be widely publicised.
We did:
We used your feedback to inform the content and delivery of the Take Part Programme. get more involved.

The South London Waste Plan

We asked:
We asked for your views on the proposals set out in the draft South London Waste Plan.
You said:
That you were generally happy with the proposals; where issues were raised we have taken these into account when drafting the final Waste Plan
We did:
Ensured all comments were considered when drafting the final version fo the South London Waste Plan.

Involving Young People in decision making

We asked:
Young people how they would like to be more involved in the decisions that affect their lives.
You said:
You want to be more involved in the issues that are important to you and the Young Advisors network was a good idea.
We did:
We have set up the Sutton Young Advisors, so that young people can get involved in decision making.

The Sustainable Communities Act

We asked:
What proposals you would like to make under the Sustainable Communities Act
You said:
You would like more local control over planning decisions
We did:
We submitted a proposal that would see Sutton become a pilot for a locally appointed planning appeals board.

Joint Commissioning Strategies on Older People and Older People's Mental Health

We asked:
For you views on two strategies about the health and well-being of older people in Sutton.
You said:
You agreed with the priorities described in the strategies, but you made lots of comments about the detail.
We did:
We updated the documents using your comments and have combined the strategies into a single document.

Draft Planning Brief for Cheam Village Sheltered Scheme

We asked:
Your views on how the site can be developed to fit in with the surrounding area and meet the needs of older people and vulnerable adults.
You said:
You wanted something in keeping with the area’s historic character and made some detailed comments on what facilities should be required.
We did:
We made changes to the document using your comments and it has been approved as planning guidance for the site’s future development.

The Future of Hackbridge

What your thought about our plans for making Hackbridge a Sustainable Suburb.
You said:
You like a lot of the proposals and made some detailed comments.
We did:
We responded to the comments and will use them to prepare detailed planning guidance.
